Second-generation manager

Martin Hecher

He represents the second generation in the company and is the first point of contact for most projects. He measures on site, designs the staircase and coordinates with the architect and other trades. He is there for the installation too.

He has also introduced the company's newer areas of work: new staircase designs, computer-aided planning and furniture making.

02Workshop

Everything under one roof

Manufacturing takes place in the Gewerbegebiet an der Ahr industrial area in Gais. Whoever designed the staircase sees it take shape in the workshop and is there when it is installed.

We also produce our own solid wood floorboards from local larch and spruce. The flooring to match the stairs therefore comes from the same company.

04Our process

Five steps

The process is the same for a staircase in a family home as for a hotel project. What differs is the lead time: for new builds, design starts at the structural stage; for renovations, often only a few weeks before installation.

  • 01 · Consultation

On site or at our workshop in Gais. We assess what is possible and give an initial price indication.

  • 02 · Design

Site measurements and detailed design, coordinated with the other trades. This is where timber, finish and balustrade choices are made.

  • 03 · Manufacturing

Made in our own workshop in Gais.

  • 04 · Installation

Installation on the agreed date by our own team.

  • 05 · Aftercare

Hecher remains your point of contact after installation.

05Coordination on site

The right time

For a new build, it pays to get in touch early, while structural changes are still possible. The stairwell opening, a load-bearing wall for cantilever stairs and the floor build-up all help determine which designs are available.

Timing is more flexible in renovations. The main priority is to coordinate the flooring and stairs.

  • Access to the site for measurements
  • Timber and finish choices before manufacturing
  • An installation date that fits the progress of the build
  • A point of contact if an architect is involved
